We started Technica Solutions more than ten years ago as two friends supporting a dozen clients with a friendly, professional service. Today, with the help of excellent, like-minded staff, we support more than a hundred clients and pride ourselves on offering each one the same level of personal, friendly service that we were able to offer our original clients - most of whom are still our clients today.
We are an outsourced IT department, and see our role most easily defined in four parts:
Day to day support: We securely configure your router, firewall, servers and workstations to allow us secure access to your systems remotely, which means we can take control of your users' screens as if we were sitting at their desks. When users telephone for help we can see exactly what they see and can frequently demonstrate solutions in front of them. Our contract covers remote support and telephone queries. Chargeable visits are kept to an absolute minimum and typically 95% of the work we do can be carried out remotely and without further charge.
Behind the scenes administration: We monitor our clients' servers, network and internet access constantly. We check back-ups, warning events, updates, virus signatures, and many other checks that allow us to avoid minor problems developing into incidents that could cause downtime and disruption. This maintenance is included in our standard support contract.
Development work: This covers planning and consultancy and the type of items that do not fall into day-to-day administration. Typical examples would be arranging new broadband lines, planning office moves and expansions, purchasing and setting up new domain names, project managing and liaising with third parties - for example, database developers or telephone providers etc. This type of work is often not covered by the support contract and is charged at standard or consultancy rates.
IT Planning: We provide our clients with simple, understandable, schematics detailing the status of their network along with our recommendations. Server, workstation and peripheral life expectancy is discussed, along with timeframes and costs to ensure accurate IT budgeting for maintenance and improvements.
Proactive not reactive - It may sound like marketing speak but it's actually what makes our business tick. Ten years ago we would open the office each morning not knowing what the day was going to bring - a day spent talking users through the nuances of Excel, or a day spent flying around the City attempting to outwit the latest virus? Today, our systems developed in-house over the last decade ensure events are much more predictable; we are always one step ahead, remotely checking clients' servers. Things may be a little less exciting for us without the fire-fighting, but we know our clients would choose reliability, performance and lack of downtime any day.
We supply all hardware, software and peripherals, with the aim of providing a service where you can rely on one company for all IT requirements, with no room for potential conflicts.
We supply, install and subsequently support Blackberry servers and Terminal servers to provide users the ability to work from home or abroad as if they were in the office. We supply and configure VPN connections linking offices securely across the UK, Europe and beyond.
